3D Optical Digitizers
Patterned light is projected onto subjects; deformation is recorded by an off-set camera. Triangulation calculates a 3D mesh. Fast, accurate and adaptable for human portraiture.

3D Laser Scanners
A laser line moves over subjects' surfaces; an off-set camera records deformation. Triangulation calculates a 3D mesh. Slower, but higher accuracy enabled for static objects.

3D Mechanical Digitizers
Mechanical arms physically probe objects, guided by the user; points are recorded on the surface of subjects. Intuitive but slow. Unsuitable for delicate objects.

3D Scanning software
View, edit and export scan data efficiently and accurately. Triangulation, registration and merging algorithms, polygon editing, CAD conversion, model export for web viewing.

Micrometric Vision Technologies - Real Time 3D Laser Sensors

XLS Series - Real Time 3D Laser Sensors XLS laser sensors extract the shape of three-dimensional objects in hand-held mode. Light-weight and compact, they are ideal tools for emerging engineering applications, geometry capture, measurement, reverse engineering and inspection.

MVT XLS40

The XLS40 is a professional arm mounted laser sensor for non-contact capture of 3D geometry. Highly accurate, working at high speed, collects dense three dimensional samples of object surface. For each sample reflectivity information is also recorded. Light weight and compact, assisted by advanced functionality is ideal for reverse engineering and 3D inspection.

Large working range allows comfortable manipulation. The sensor connects directly to FireWire ports, is hardware independent and does not require power supply on most PCs.

XLS40 is compatible with 5dof and 6dof MicroScribe models. Existing units can be quickly retrofitted in the field. Attractively priced, packs professional performance, functionality and affordability.

All sensors have standard IEEE1394 interface, and can connect directly to almost any PC or Laptop. No dedicated hubs or embedded controllers are required. No power supply is required on most PCs. Thin and flexible, cables are easily routed where necessary.

A four-button panel is conveniently located to enable mouse and keyboard-free operations. This way self-sufficient functionality is maintained. Lights for power and range alert indicate sensor status.

Configurations requirements: Pentium 4/HT, 3GHz or better, 1GB, workstation grade graphics card (ATI FireGL, nVidia Quadro4), IEEE PCI adaptor, Windows XP Pro.

Data can be exported in CSV, ASCII and TXT formats for third parties point cloud applications for reverse engineering, modeling and animation.
