Faro - Laser Scanner LS Range
The FARO Laser Scanner LS is a portable non-contact
measurement system which uses laser technology accurately to measure manufacturing
plants, processing facilities, and in specialized applications ranging from
forensics to heritage sites. The system rotates 360 degrees and automatically
measures everything within the line of sight from the scanner’s position.
The stand-alone system records millions of 3D measurements in real time.
Designed with user friendliness in mind the
high performance of the scanner can be used with minimal training to capture
3D point cloud data. Whether documenting a 50,000 square foot building or accurately
capturing the scene of a crime the range of possible applications is almost
unlimited.

Revolutionary operation of scanner:
For the first time a 3D laser scanner can be used without an external PC or
Laptop. This makes scanning much easier. All data is recorded on the internal
hard disk drive, which can subsequently be easily removed and plugged into a
docking station. This ensures that valuable captured data is protected without
the risk of loss during hectic, on-site archiving. Extra PC modules can be purchased
to facilitate shift operations and ensure efficient progress without time and
data loss.
Application oriented solution:
A very accurate inclination sensor simplifies the camera’s orientation
in space. At least 33% fewer targets need to be surveyed and used in registration.
This reduces cost and time by more than one third. The power and ethernet connector
is now located in the fixed part of the foot. Cable fouling and the risk of
damaging the scanner are minimised.
Safe investment by modularity:
The distance sensor, the mirror axis and the built-in PC are now exchangeable
modules. In case of an accident the defective module can be quickly exchanged
even onsite. This is especially valuable during time constrained projects when
every scanning delay exacerbates the problem. Additionally, this facility protects
your investment, since as innovations are made or special application modules
developed, your set of modules can now be updated and expanded. FARO Laser Scanner
LS offers a lifetime upgrade path to keep your scanner up to date. New modules
with different features will be offered such as distance sensors with an even
higher accuracy or longer range. Thus a diverse range of scanner functionality
can be realized within one machine.
Software and interfaces:
The FARO Scene software is used to control the scanner operation, view, measure
and analyze the scans. FARO Scene is also used to process the data, recognize
objects and connect to your CAD system. All popular CAD and CAPE systems are
supported, e.g. Microstation, AutoCad, CATIA, I-Deas, PDS, PDMS, eMworkplace
(RobCad), IGrip, DELMIA-Process- Engineer etc.
