"The newest addition to a the ProJet range builds hard plastic parts with high resolution in a range of vibrant colours. The Projet 1500 is an affordable desktop modeller that gives excellent surface detail and fast build speeds, making it ideal for functional test components, concept models, one off components, patterns and moulds.

The Projet 1500 works using 3D Systems patented and proprietary Film Transfer Imaging (FTI) technology allowing parts to be built much quicker than other methods of rapid prototyping. FTI is similar to SLA in that it uses resin which is hardened by UV light. A film is coated in UV curable resin, this resin is then transferred from the film to the build platform and is cured by a flash of light from a projector. The process is repeated, building layer upon layer until the entire model is complete. By curing each layer with a single flash of projected light, instead of tracing each layer with a laser or ejecting material in specific locations, parts can be built quickly, accurately and with fine resolution."
